This past Saturday the Knights competed against the rest of the Sac-Joaquin Section in the Sub-Section meet on the infamous Frogtown course. What was at stake??? Berths in the section championship meet, section team and individual status, and certainly pride.
F/S Girls
The girls were led by the strong up-front performances of Haylee Osgood and Jamie Becerra. The girls placed 5th overall out of 16 teams to grab one of the 6 team qualifying spots for the section championship.

JV Girls
The five girls running this race struggled to hold on to the rest of the pack over the ruged hilly course. Karina Redding barely nosed out Adriana Coggins. They finished 10th out of the ten teams competing.

Varsity Girls
The girls had hopes of qualifying for sections but absence of two of their top 5 runners led to a dissappointing 12th place finish (out of 19). Harder still to swallow was the reality that they finished behind MMC rivals Beyer and Gregori (both teams that they easily beat in leaguge competition). They would be 20 points out of the money. Rocio Ramirez-Castro led the way as she has all season. She also was the only one of the group to qualify for the section meet.

Soph Boys
Justin Goering moved down from Varsity to anchor the Soph team. He made the most of the opportunity by placing 18th and winning a medal. He also was the only Downey boy to qualify for the section meet. The team would place 15th out of 18 teams.

Varsity Boys
Last year the VB team place in a tie for 10th place in the D1 race of this meet. This year with a move down to D2 and the absence of two of the top five runners (taking the SAT) there chances were slim. They would ultimately place 19th out of the 24 teams. However Andrew was still trying to to grab one of the ten individual qualifying spots. He went out hard but faded badly in the hills and struggled through a personally disappointing effort.
